Introduction

This module addresses the foundational aspects of sustainable development matters, which a VET teacher can incorporate into the school syllabus. The aim of the module is to elucidate the fundamental terminology associated with this subject and offer pertinent information to the faculty so they can integrate materials into their lessons regarding green infrastructure, building energy efficiency, renewable resources, water, and waste management. The module encompasses essential professional content, and within each section, educators interested in the subject can discover supplementary activities to facilitate interactive learning.

Objectives

The primary aim of this module is to assist practical and vocational education instructors in the incorporation of sustainability infrastructure concerns into both in-school and extracurricular education. The objectives of this module are:

  • Providing educators with ability to understand fundamental concepts, principles, and practices related to sustainable infrastructure and facilities.
  • Facilitating incorporation of sustainable infrastructure themes into trainers’ vocational curriculum.
  • Identifying suitable teaching opportunities for sustainable practices.
  • Preparing lesson plans that integrate real-world instances and case studies.
  • Providing knowledge about various aspects of sustainable infrastructure, including: energy-efficient technologies, green building design principles, sustainable waste management methods, water conservation strategies, the utilization of renewable energy sources.
  • Addressing the ethical aspects of sustainable infrastructure and facilities, encompassing: considerations of social fairness, environmental justice and global sustainability challenges.
