Introduction

This module is about how the provision of Vocational Education and Training (VET) can support the increase of environmental awareness among individuals, learners, different professionals, educators, and organizations. The purpose of the module is to generate a positive impact and provide useful knowledge and guidelines to VET staff and organizations, to help them become better agents of environmental change.

Objectives

This module is designed to provide with knowledge and skills to make VET organisations greener and more sustainable. The green VET Learning Objectives covered in this module are:

• Develop a curriculum that enables learners to acquire new knowledge, skills, attitudes related to environmental practices.
• Facilitate responsibility towards environmental practices and understanding of environmental technological occupations among learners, aligning with current career aspirations and the demands of green jobs and sectors.
• Incorporate learners' career aspirations and sector demands for green skills into the pedagogical approach of training provision, creating training programs that empower learners to acquire green skills aligned with them.
• Establish partnerships with environmental experts and collaborate with other Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations.
• Share educational best practices and inspire and support the implementation of sustainable processes.

By the end of this module, you will:

• You will be able to create initiatives within your organization that promote the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, attitudes related to the environment.
• You will be able to share green practices and professional occupations among learners and targeted groups.
• You will understand how to create training programs that empower individuals to acquire green skills, aligned with their career aspirations and the demands of green jobs and sectors.
• You will be able to establish partnerships with environmental experts and will promote the collaboration with other Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations, understanding the importance of the cooperation between organizations.
• You will learn how to share educational best practices and inspire and support the implementation of sustainable processes between individuals in different action levels.

Advocacy

This module is important on the view of its practice usefulness. While the module will provide some strong theorical basics about green Vocational Education and Training, it will also bring to the conversation some very practical tools to execute in real life. Creating a green learning curricula, identifying best practices to carry out in professional environments, the full development of training programs, the importance of partnerships and dissemination to inform the wider publics, etc.

This module provides new ways of facing the VET education, toward more environmentally responsible programs, initiatives, and mindsets for every person involved; there is always room of improvement, and the field of VET is always evolving to be better. We need to not leave anyone behind and adapt to the new teaching and learning green methodologies.
